Get connected to meaningful community

Community

groups

Gospel community is key to growing in your faith.

You need people who  know you  and  know jesus.

Gospel community in the local church is the primary means through which the Holy Spirit makes disciples, accomplishes the Great Commission, transforms our hearts and receives the greatest glory. Community groups are smaller, more intimate expressions of what we do on Sunday mornings. It is the primary environment where the implications of the gospel are put into action with an emphasis on people living in community and on mission.

We believe that being a part of a church consists of more than weekly attendance at corporate worship. The church consists of a covenant body that lives life together by caring for one another, bearing one another’s burdens, and seeking to help each other grow in conformity to Christ. This means, like the early church, we must spend more than a couple hours a week together if we are going to know each other well enough to carry out these responsibilities.

Discipleship happens through relationships.

Community happens throughout the week, not just on Sunday.

We are a church of Community Groups not a church with Community Groups.

Community is about more than just what you get out of it. Your presence matters.

How often do Community Groups meet?

Once per week.

How long will groups be?

Groups will be around two hours depending on the activity or the needs of the group.

What will group dynamics look like?

Each group has it’s own flavor, but they are designed to welcome people from all
demographic categories. We believe the Gospel breaks down all barriers whether age, ethnicity, or socio-economic status. True Gospel Community thrives where there is unity in diversity, and his grace is sufficient for the task.

Who will lead these groups?

Our Community Groups are led by Community Group Leaders who have gone through assessment and training with Risen Church.

How big will groups be?

Each group will be different depending on the season. The average Community Group is around 15 adults (plus kids).

What content will groups use for discussion?

Community Groups will follow a sermon-guided discussion model. Groups will dig deeper into the previous week’s sermon and scripture, as they grow closer to Jesus.

How will groups change and multiply?

Risen desires to multiply healthy leaders and healthy Community Groups. A primary
responsibility of each Community Group Leader is to train up and develop apprentices who will be sent out to start new Community Groups to engage and embrace new people. Our goal is that each group will send out a new leader each year.
