When faced with disappointment or a desire for more, it is easy to lose sight of the unique calling and responsibilities God has entrusted to us. The Israelites, fresh out of Egypt, struggled with discontent and control. In Numbers 16, Korah and his followers, though already trusted with important roles, wanted more—and in doing so, they lost sight of the value in what they already had. Their story challenges us to check our own hearts. Are we chasing what we think we deserve, or are we being faithful with what God’s already given us? God’s response reminds us of His holiness and the importance of humility and trust.
